I have been given the wonderful opportunity to be a graduate teaching assistant at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. This term I have been helping teaching the oceanography lab with Dr. David Shull. Recently we went out in Burrows Bay and used a Peterson Grab coring device to take sediment samples from the floor of the bay . We sifted through our muddy samples and I helped the students identify the different invertebrates we found. We also did a grain size analysis and then compared how the density and diversity of invertebrate feeding modes changed as we moved from sandy to muddy sediments.
